Unfinished Basement Finish: Guest Suite, Closet + Bath

For this home renovation in Maryville, Missouri, Steve and Bonnie Sutton partnered with Rural Renovation to transform an unfinished section of their basement into a fully functional and stylish living space. With a clear vision in mind, they wanted a versatile spare bedroom that could also serve as a sewing and hobby room, complete with a custom-designed closet to neatly organize Bonnie’s fabrics and sewing supplies. To complete the space, they also requested a small bathroom featuring a custom walk-in shower.

The finished result is a bright, welcoming retreat that balances smart storage solutions, durable materials, and a timeless design-built to be enjoyed for years to come.

    • Designed a flexible room layout to accommodate both guest use and hobby activities

    • Built a custom closet system to neatly organize fabrics and sewing supplies

    • Selected durable materials and timeless finishes for long-term use

The Result
